Our theme for 2011-2012 is REAWAKEN. We encourage members both to engage with and to produce critical or creative works that can become fodder for another’s reconsideration. In turning the text over in our own minds, we turn our attention from the understanding that reading alone brings us to the nuanced meanings that arise through literaryanalysis and creative writing. Because we are a service organization as well as an honor society, we pledge to support our chapter members, the Department of English, the University of North Texas, the city of Denton, and our global community through these and other activities:

• Opportunity to publish in our journals, The Rectangle and The Record
• Attendance at our annual national conference
• Study and travel opportunities
• Scholarships and fellowships
