Directed by Peabody Award winner Steve Rowland, "Shakespeare Is" will be aired as a six-hour public radio series and ten-hour public television series. The documentary includes interviews with Shakespearean scholars, practitioners, writers, actors, and directors, including Stanley Wells, Gail Kern Paster, Michael Witmore, and Robert Pinskey. The aim of "Shakespeare Is" is to understand the power of Shakespeare's writing in our own time by exploring why people continue to find his works a source of passion and objects of ethical, political, and aesthetic importance.
