Vince Granata is a writer from New Haven, Connecticut. Most of his writing concerns mental health care and his family's experience of serious mental illness. His work has recently appeared in Fourth Genre, The Massachusetts Review, Creative Nonfiction, and The Chattahoochee Review, and has been recognized in Best American Essays 2018 and Best American Essays 2020. Everything Is Fine will be published by Simon & Shuster (Atria Books) in late April 2021.
"I started writing about my brother, about my mother, about my family, because I was exhausted from trying to hide. I had been terrified of my pain, a pain I hid in a silo, a secret I feared might detonate….It was this process, recognizing the pieces, struggling to put them in order, that almost destroyed me. It's also what allowed me to live again." -From Everything Is Fine
