Adam Villalobos, PH.D.

Adam Villalobos received his Ph.D. in English with a Graduate Certificate in Gender, Race, and Identity Studies from the University of Nevada in 2018 and joined the UNT English Department in 2020. Prior to UNT, he taught at the University of Texas at Arlington, Ranger College, the University of Nevada, and Stetson University. He has taught at all undergraduate levels from developmental reading to senior-level capstone literature seminars and has won teaching awards in both English and Humanities Departments.

Dr. Villalobos's teaching and research interests include twentieth and twenty-first century American literature, southern studies, ecocriticism, horror studies, queer studies, and Flannery O'Connor. He has been published in Ecocriticism and the Future of Southern Studies (LSU Press, 2019) and regularly presents papers at the Society for the Study of Southern Literature and Association for the Study of Literature and Environment conferences.

In his infrequent spare time, Dr. Villalobos enjoys baking, hosting cocktail parties, and foiling his dachshund's diabolical world domination plots. He is perpetually in search of a good banh mi.
