Amy Montoya is currently an adjunct for the UNT First-Year Writing program and English Faculty at Dallas College. She is a native of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch area and received her bachelor's here at UNT in Literature and Secondary Education. At UNT, she was in Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society and Gamma Beta Phi Education Honor Society. Her master's is from the University of Texas Dallas in Humanities with a Literary focus. She is currently working on her Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Her interests, research, and specialization include Intersectionality, Decolonization Traditions, Mexican American Studies, LatCrit, first-generation/first-year writing, and Hispanic Serving Institutions. When she isn't teaching, she enjoys time with her husband, a marine veteran, and her 3 children. She also has 3 doodles and a wolf-hybrid and volunteers for a doodle rescue. She is unapologetically a "Must Love Dog" person.
